*Physician Shadowing - Shadowed an Ob/Gyn for a full week, all day each day, shadowed a family doc for two full days, and have just recently started shadowing a doctor at OHSU for 4hrs every week, who is also mentoring me, and letting me do full patient histories and interviews before he comes in and does it with a diagnosis. Amazing experience. ## 150hrs ##

Summary of Application Experience
Summary of my application:
- Applied to 12 schools - Invited for interview at 6. - Was accepted VERY early to UVa (1 week after my interview in December... GREAT Xmas present!!) so I declined two interviews that I was offered later, because UVa was one of my top choices. - Accepted at 2 - Waitlisted/Withdrew at 1 - Flat out rejected by my STATE School.
None of this process makes ANY sense to me. I calculated my odds, and my odds of getting into UVa (Probably the most prestigious school I applied to, and an out of state public institution) were the lowest of all the schools I was invited for an interview at. Yet, I had a snail-mailed acceptance letter in my hand less than a week later. That's incredible. My state school, who I had experience with faculty at, a very connected family history at, letters of recommendation from practicing alumni, ALMOST got into the year prior and had an exit meeting at... flat out rejected me. I was a few freaked out students dropping out at orientation away from being accepted last year, and this year I wasn't even waitlisted. The entire process of applying to medical school seems like a crapshoot. In the end, I am VERY happy I am going to UVa. After doing much research, it is a way better school than OHSU. Good luck to all of you who are applying!!
