Summary of Application Experience
8/14 In my perfect world I'd have all my secondaries in by now, but I'm still plodding through them. Trying to write interesting, meaningful essay answers for each of them is really slowing me down.
9/8 First interview invite today from SUNY Upstate! I'm psyched. I still have to get out my last few secondaries though... essay writing is no fun at all.
9/13 Wow... my first interview is next Thursday (at Cornell). That happened fast!
9/23 My first interview was yesterday at Cornell. I was so nervous at first, but wound up having no reason to be. The school is awesome: the students are fun and friendly, and I love the curriculum. The interviews themselves were very low-stress. All in all I had a fabulous time. Yay!
10/7 I just got home from Pitt, and I LOVED it. The people there are really one-of-a-kind warm and friendly and engaging and fun. So great.
10/10 Today's date has all 10s, and as of today, I have 10 interviews! Cool, huh? I can't believe it... this process is going so much better than I could have imagined. I'm loving it.
10/21 Just got home from Harvard, and it was AMAZING. If I get in, it's where I'll go. Wow.
10/31 Happy Halloween! Yale was really cool... the director of admissions wore a witch's hat, and they gave us candy! Oh yeah, and the school itself was pretty awesome, too :-)
11/7 Just got an interview invite from Case, after emailing them earlier today to inquire about the uncompleteness of my file! Far out. And, holy 13 interviews, batman.
11/9 I'm reformatting my dates up next to my schools to try to make them clearer to read... which unfortunately means that I took out my assorted exclamation points and squeals.... but they're still there in spirit!
11/10 Ooooh my first rejection, from Rochester. Glad it came at a point in the game when it doesn't hurt my feelings :-)
11/12 I'm into Pitt!!!!!!! It is the BEST feeling. Woohoo!
1/23 Holy crap. I'm sitting in my room, writing a paper that's due tomorrow and I've been putting off for months, and my mom comes up to my room holding two thin envelopes and saying, oh well... and I open them and they're both acceptances!! Hooray for NYU and Case!
2/1 Whoa Hopkins invite!
2/25 Hopkins was a lot of fun. I can't believe I'm officially done with interviews; they've definitely become something of a staple activity in my life. Now here comes March, with all my non-rolling decisions, rounded out with a Hopkins decision in mid-April. I'm excited to see how things pan out. Que sera, sera: I'm happy.
3/16 I'M GOING TO HARVARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3/22 Dang, accepted to Penn... my cup overfloweth :-)
3/30 Holy crap... I just found out that Case is offering me $30,000 a year in merit scholarship. It's rocking my world a little bit. Almost certainly sticking with my true love anyway, but.... dang. Can you say luckiest gal in the world?
