Summary of Application Experience
I took some time off after undergrad because I needed to be sure that med school was for me. This was a great decision- it gave me time to develop as a person AND time to study for the MCAT while I was not a student.
I put 12 schools on my primary application and only finished 8 of the 12 secondaries. I highly recommend not applying to a large pool of schools. It is draining financially (due to app fees and travel) not to mention all the essays you have to write and interviews you might want to attend. Think about your geography- where you want to live, where are your friends/family, do you want a new place to live- city, suburbs, etc. This helped me alot in narrowing down the schools.
Good luck to everyone on this very self-illuminating journey!
