    August, 2006
    1: Received RFU Secondary
2: Submitted JHU and Weill Cornell Secondaries. Received BU Secondary. I've been procrastinating badly with this whole thing, home is not the best place for me to be doing 'work' - I just tend to get lazy. I'm also getting a little sad about all the stuff I've had to fed ex just because I'm not in the U.S. and it would take too long to send it regular mail arghhh. Ah well such is life.
    3: Submitted BU Secondary
    4: Received Northwestern Secondary
    7: Received EVMS Secondary
8: Submitted EVMS Secondary (snail mail)
    9: Submitted Tufts Secondary
    11: Submitted MSSM Secondary
    14: Submitted Northwestern Secondary
15: Received and Submitted Emory Secondary, Def. not gonna apply to Ros. Franklin cuz I'm sure that when I finish these last couple secondaries I'll be brain dead lol. I really don't know why I'm moving so slowly with these, I just want to get them done with and enjoy the last few days of summer.
    16: Submitted Georgetown Secondary
17: Not going to complete the UVa secondary...I'm lazy right now and I don't have enough reasons for that particular school to force it.
18: aaaahhh I got an AECOM interview!!! My first choice school - I love it. Ok need to calm down - Happy :), Submitted Columbia Secondary
28: Ok today was the first day of classes. I really wish Duke and Vandy would let me know what's up with their secondaries soon since I'd like them to be done before I really start doing any difficult work this semester...help me out ppl, send me ur secondaries!!!!
29: Email from Duke saying their secondary is finished and will be sent out soon.
30: Just got rejected from BU. Extremely sad right now since they were one of my top choice schools. Ok well, gotta get over it and move on I guess.

    September, 2006
1: Finally got my long awaited rejection from Vanderbilt...ah well one less secondary to fill out.
7: Need to stop reading SDN - it's making me a little worried about this whole waiting process.
9: After a whole lot of waiting and a whole lot of thinking, I decided that I'm not going to fill out the Duke secondary :(
11: Finally received Duke Secondary and I am glad I decided against it...It will just cause me alot of unnecessary heartache and I am more interested in focusing on the schools that I have already applied to.
15: AHHHHH!!!! Got an interview from Emory!!!! That just made my month!!!
16: Checked my mailbox to find a thin letter from SUNY Upstate: put ON HOLD
25: Ok, just got back from my Albert Einstein interview. I pretty much love the school and it was a great first interview experience. It was very laid back and they made sure that I was not nervous at all. To break it down, I stayed over in Brooklyn at a relative's house and left at 7am, I got there at ~2 minutes to 9am (the time i was supposed to be there) and had my interview at 10am. There were about 20 other applicants there that day (HUGE GROUP!) and they were all nice and I enjoyed meeting them. A few of us sat in on a Histology class before our 10am interviews, then split up to go to our diff. locations. Mine was pretty close. My interviewer was really nice and I enjoyed spending that time with her a lot. I think they really want you to feel comfortable at the school and everyone said that they had the same kind of interview as I had (Unfortunately, that means I don't know how I did relative to everyone and won't find out till Jan 15, but ah well). We all went off to a tour and lunch at ~12. The tour was led by a sweet M3 and a nice M1 who were really happy to be at the school. A few other students, mostly M1's dropped in on our tour and answered some questions for us. Lunch was pretty good - I was happy with the selection they had. After that, we continued our tour with a visit to the rec.center/gym - really tiny compared to undergrad gyms :P not to worry there's another gym across the road which claims it's membership is only $300 for 2 years - DEAL!!!. And the dorm rooms are amazing HUGEEEE...one person even had a piano in her room it was that spacious...with living room, kitchen and bathroom..However, I don't know if that was considered one of the better rooms? but I did see that the waiting list for a suite is veeeeeeeeeerry long (six typed pages of names)...so don't expect that until about third year. But all in all, I had a great time and I hope that i get in!!!
26: Got my Georgetown rejection letter today. Letter dated Sept. 18 and mailed Sept. 20 for all those keeping track of timelines.

    October, 2006
2: Called EVMS and NYU today to find out why I haven't received any complete notices from them yet - EVMS didn't have my letters of recommendation (even though someone from their office apparently downloaded them July 29) and NYU had lost my file completely
3: NYU finally sent me a complete e-mail
9: Had my Emory interview today..It was pretty much amazing. I absolutely love the school and can't wait to find out their decision. I would go there in a heartbeat - the weather is great, the people are great, I don't even need to mention how great the school is. Facilities - value for money for sure, overall experience - seems like everyone there is happy with their decision and I would be really happy to join them. We got there pretty early in the morning: 7.45 to be exact. Erica and Dr. Schwartz are so amazingly nice. They had a little 'commercial' they put together for us and broke the ice pretty early on. They explained how the day would go and then split us up into our two groups. The early interview group got started right away and my 'afternoon group' went on our tour of the area and hospitals and school. The tour was led by an MD/MPH doing her MPH year (after her M3 year), she was really nice, helpful etc. We ate at Grady hospital (food was great!!! - who knew?) and then came back to main campus for relax time..well 3 other MD/MPH candidates and myself went for a little information session over at the public health school and so we had no real relax time but pretty much got an extended tour and meet the director of the MPH program who's really nice as well. Then I went on my interviews (group and individual) and then the day was done. Pretty sweet trip..I enjoyed it a whole lot and hope to hear some good news end of October (fingers are crossed)
12: Got my postcard from EVMS saying that my file is finally 'completed'
16: Got an interview invitation from Mount Sinai!!!!! This process is so up and down with my emotions, but for the most part it's been coming back with positives just when I start to feel a little unsure about my chances.
17: Got an interview invitation from EVMS!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going crazy happy :) :) :)
31: Happy halloween!!! I just got back from my Mount Sinai interview day and I'm once again sold. Now I know why people have a hard time deciding (well i'm not worried...I'm sure the school's will narrow it down for me and I won't have to do any choosing). Sinai was amazing, NYC was amazing, the people, the school, the hospital, the atmosphere..it was exactly what I want..city city city but oh so sweet. The dorms are pretty great and I would def. not mind living in Aron Hall for four years. My only worry point is the MD/MPH program is kinda new so ppl were suggesting that I not do it there, and that also the dual degree kids were a lot more stressed and had less free time. However, the MD/MPH kids all said they liked it alot and still had time to pursue other interests so...I'm not too worried. People there seem so happy *yet again*, and I can see why..the place is so nice..right next to the park, the reservoir, all these museums, great places to enjoy these things in life that just make it that much more fun and exciting. I really liked Jessica (worked in Admissions)...she was really nice. Oh we also went into a first year anatomy lecture for a few minutes and it was really chill and nice so I enjoyed seeing that dynamic (it may have also been because we were there on Halloween and some students were in costume :) ) but yeah it was overall a great day and I can't wait for them to let me know what they thought of me!!!

    November,2006
    1: Happy November!!!
4: So, just found out today that NYU doesn't even read international student's applications. I'm very sad cuz I really would prefer to have my $100 back but ah well that's what I get for not buying the new MSAR and assuming an older one (2 years old) would be up to date enough
14: Got my Northwestern Feinberg rejection today (dated Nov. 9) no doubt a part of the mass rejection they sent out...boo hoo...I won't get to see Chicago..ah well someday
17: OMG!!! today has been such an up and down day...well it really started yesterday when I flew out to interview at EVMS. Had some flight issues, but then got in to the interview today and really enjoyed the people at the school. I wasn't too fond of the area, just cuz it seemed a little too suburban and not enough city for what I'm hoping for right now in life. Other than that I was really impressed with the school, the students were VERY approachable and the school did a really good job of making me and the other applicants feel comfortable. The admissions officers were great, and Gail, in the office of minority affairs, was amazing - she even drove me back to the airport..how many people would do that??? I was so impressed with her. The Children's Hospital was adorable..it seemed more like a big, mansion type playhouse. The area was really pretty and the people were all around friendly. Basically then my only complaint is not enough diversity in the school or patient population. So, yeah..the school was the up. Traveling was the down. First my bag got lost - had to interview in sneakers - although I did have my suit...got my bag back at the airport on the way out of Norfolk - and then on my taxi ride back to school I got a very pissed off driver...not the best hour of life..but ah well - I thought of it as good practice for the future - in the end, he calmed down and started even cracking jokes..but initially it was a very tense atmosphere in the car. Then, I come back to check my ridiculous email level for only two days away and I see an acceptance from MSSM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...could they have made my day, week, month, year any better?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see the actual letter to make it official..and then I can withdraw from a couple schools that I haven't heard from and liked a lot less than MSSM anywayz..then start looking for LOANS!!! joy joy joy I'm gonna be a doctor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally dreams are starting to come true :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
    23: Happy Thanksgiving!!!

    December, 2006

1: Later on today!!! - I just got accepted to EVMS!!! wow...I am so so lucky to have gotten into one school and now I got two :) :) :)...so happy, God is good.
15: EMORY WANTS ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wowwwww.just got an email today saying Congrats for getting into Emory and apparently the formal acceptance just went in the mail today..whoooo hoooooooo..HAPPY HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    January, 2007
4: Happy Belated New Year!! I'm pretty sure it's gonna be Mount Sinai since Emory is gonna end up costing way more. However, I'm yet to send in my request to be reviewed for the MPH part. I plan to be fully committed one way or the other next week and then send that baby in :)
15: Albert Einstein rejected. Ah well. Wasn't gonna go there anyway after the other schools I got into. Withdrew from all schools that hadn't offered an interview yet since I'm pretty sure I'd choose MSSM or Emory over them anyway
