I applied last year, and was wait listed and later rejected at UMDNJ and rejected from 5 other NY and NJ state schools. I followed up on a whim and reapplied to just NJMS the next summer. I applied using AMCAS one week before I was due to leave with the Army. I emailed the Dean of Admissions and asked if I could interview over the phone later on (if my application made it that far). That night (at midnight!) he sent me the secondary application and told me to come in four days later. I interviewed and 3 months later I got a call while in the field saying I was accepted. The admissions office went above and beyond to help me out, especially Dr. H, the Dean of Admissions. My extracurricular work helped make up for my less than average grades. However, I do credit a large part of my acceptance to my interview. I was lucky enough to get a great guy. In regards to applying, this is definitely a school where you are valued as a person, not just an AMCAS number. Would recommend it to anyone.
