    Summary of Application Experience

I applied through the Texas Application system and also to 'reach' schools because I knew I would attend a Texas school unless I got into a top private school. I recieved a phone interview from Mayo, and interviews from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and UT San Antonio. Through the Texas match system, I matched at San Antonio which I ranked second.

Tips that I would give to future applicants:

Apply as early as possible!!! Try to get all your applications finished by the end of summer.

If you have already applied and have not heard back from schools in a long time, send them additional letters of interest stating that you are still interested plus additional extraciric's and activities you are doing to make yourself a better candidate. Send in additional recommendations if you can get more.

Make sure your undergrad institution gets all your recommendations in on time and before your secondary's get in. Otherwise, they might not have a file open for you yet and your secondary might get lost (NYU).

Don't feel nervous about the process!! If you've made it so far as to finish all your premed classes and take the MCATs, you will become a doctor! And don't let what your pre-med advisors say make you feel like you'll never get in. They always say that to keep their numbers high. And if you want to go straight to medical school after graduation, don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!

    Good luck!!
