Summary of Application Experience
OK, as you can tell from my stats, I didn't have a chance of getting in at all and was repeatedly told this by my premed advisors and other university officials (GPA drop was from a horrible junior year). So I went into this process figuring that I may as well give it a shot and see what happened AND I GOT IN!!!!!!! HA!!!! I was told not to expect interviews until I had done at least a post-bacc program or started a masters program, which I was going to do after this year of research. And then I got my first interview and 3 more!!! I'm not expecting to get into any more schools, but all I needed was one and I'm so grateful/excited that I'm going to be a doctor! My time line was finished AMCAS July 22nd, secondaries started coming in mid-september (they take forever. How many ways can you answer the same question?), and I finished those by late october, well, until I got the secondary from UCSF in December (and before you ask, I was in a UCSF program in high school, so I'm pretty sure that's why they sent me one). December 23 I had my first interview at UMDNJ-New Jersey, which went well, and while back East got another interview from UC Davis. Had a slew of interviews the first couple of weeks of February, Loma Linda University, UC Davis and Robert Wood Johnson (which I never expected to get!), and now I'm just waiting. And last week (3-2-06) I got into UMDNJ!!! Latest update (3-31-06), got rejected from UC Davis via e-mail. According to my friend and fellow med school applier,'that's just harsh.' Oh well, looks like I'll be heading back East for med school, since Loma Linda is the only other school in Cali I got an interview at and it's twice as expensive as UMDNJ-Newark or Robert Wood Johnson. So really I'm just waiting with bated breath for RWJ...
