*make sure that you have the rec letters finished during the summer
*make sure that the career center HAS all the letters (our career center lost TWO of my letters . . . )
*make sure that you have confirmed your residency for in-state schools
*make sure to have ONE email address and ONE actual address designated for your medical school correspondence (two schools sent invitations to interview that I either never received or took 14 days to get)
*make sure to ask if grading is on a curve (i.e. bell curve) because this would promote competitiveness :(
keep an open mind. there will be a school (or two!) that you just CONNECT with. for me, Tulane and U of S. Alabama were perfect. the interviews flowed. also, these were the only two schools that based their final decisions on PERSONALITY. being selected for an interview meant that you were already qualified. the interview itself was to judge your character and your fit with the school and its students. VERY IMPORTANT if you ask me!
so don't give up if you have a very low GPA and an especially low science GPA!
**also, don't let any pre-med counselors convince you that you are not a good applicant!
