    Summary of Application Experience

I had an 'upward trending' academic experience during my undergrad (though a steadily great time in other ways!), so had a 3.1 going in to my post-bacc. After working as a paramedic for a few years I was focused and ready to kick some science butt when I went to the UVM program, and had a 3.95 in my 37 science credits from UVM and Cornell last year, including biochem this fall. I turned AMCAS and the bulk of my secondaries in pretty early, but who knows how much that can help?

5/13 Finally got MSSM letter. I'm going to BU. I even bought a sweatshirt and we're looking for housing.

4/15 Totally won over by BU's 2nd look day, esp. MPH and International Health presentations. That's where I want to be and I'm withdrawing from Stony Brook. Where's my Sinai rejection?

3/30 Tufts rejection by mail. One more to go...

3/23 Now we're rolling! Yale rejection by USPS.

3/22 Online neg from UPenn. Bring it, ivies! That all you got?!

3/3 Official closure of Harvard today. 4 to go, then I can get whole-heartedly excited about BU. Bring on the rejections!!

2/2 withdrew from Upstate. I liked it a lot, but I'm thinking BU's the place for me unless I suddenly decide to go state tuition, and then it would be Stony Brook.

1/25 I'm guessing I'm out of the running for Harvard, since their website says notification for interviews ends the first week in January. Whatcha gonna do? :)

1/11 Holy cow! about time for some news! I got ACCEPTED by BU yesterday my snail mail (though I really only SAW the letter when my boyfriend scanned it in and sent it by email to Italy). Man, I am so relieved and happy to get into BU. They have a GREAT public health program and such a diverse patient base. Sign me up! Happy!!!

12/30 Sent 2nd round of update letters

12/9 Received letter from BU outlining their plans: they'll send a round of letters in early January saying yes to a few, no to a bunch, or no decision yet. They say they'll finish interviews by the first of February, then send a second round of letters by early March. Just FYI:)

12/6 Damn! REJECTION letter in the mail from Cornell. I LOVE the school and would have gotten an enormous tuition break. This whole process is long and painful.

11/13 So much for Stony Brook's 6-week wait! I got an overnight package with an ACCEPTANCE letter this morning, sent the day after my interview!!!

11/11 Stony Brook interview was fun, though I've spent about 30 hours in the car this week...blech. I was surprised by how beautiful that part of Long Island is. Who knew? Acceptances are rolling; they advised a ~6-week wait.

11/8 Really enjoyed BU interview. Won't hear until January at the earliest...blech.

11/4 Damn. Snail mail REJECTION letter from Dartmouth today. There goes my dream of country livin'. I really wanted that one...

10/25 BU interview offer by email, scheduled for 11/8. Whoopee!

10/15 SUNY Upstate ACCEPTANCE by phone. The dean of admissions called me at work to break the news. What a load off!

10/12 SUNY Stony Brook interview invite by email, scheduled for 11/11.

10/1 sent update letter to all schools

9/29 SUNY Upstate interview felt like it went very well. I had a really good time, and the interviews felt relaxed and honest. This process makes me wish I were a more patient person!

9/23 Rochester REJECTION by mail. The first one doesn't feel so hot, but hey, might as well get it out of the way.

8/19 SUNY Upstate interview offer by phone. Tried to sound cool like cucumber, but I was excited. :)
