    Summary of Application Experience

I didn't start out as a pre-med, hence the crappy gpa. I am a registered dietitian with a M.S. in Nutrition (3.83 gpa) I am hoping my 36 on the MCAT and grad gpa and 5 years experience as a nutritionist in underserved urban settings will prevent me from taking undergrad classes. I am a re-applicant. I was waitlisted a 2 schools last year, but no acceptance. I am applying to a wider range of schools this time and hoping for the best. As of today I have one interview scheduled at UMDNJ-SOM. I haven't actually completed all of my secondaries yet, but I'm getting there. A few I am not returning due to their rigid LOR requirements.

Looks more and more like I will be at UMDNJ-SOM. Only one more interview scheduled, at Albany. I figure by February interview chances drop dramatically. I very much like SOM and will be happy to go there. I guess I was just looking for a greater return on my investment, meaning more acceptances to choose from.

Update: got into Albany. Now it is decision time. Listen, if I can do it, anyone can. You saw my gpa, but grad work, good MCAT scores and a clear vision helped me out. What made the difference the second time around was that I was more clear about my motivation and career goals. I learned better how to market myself, my experience and my skills.

6/1/05 I recently got into SUNY Buffalo off the waitlist and that is where I am headed. I really liked Albany, but the crappy financial aid package was a deal breaker.

A bunch of schools never sent a final decision. It is so rude. My money should at least buy a rejection letter.
