Hopefully, that will weigh heavier than the grades from my undergraduate years over a decade ago. :) Also, AMCAS and AACOM calculate grades a bit differently, so my GPA is a little lower with AMCAS.

Summary of Application Experience
This process is similar to an intense expository writing class. :) Although AMCAS is supposed to make this process easier, it seems like just another expensive layer in the quest for the right acceptance. Checking to see if letters have arrived is the most difficult aspect. It's too bad that the letters aren't sent to AMCAS, like the transcripts...
This process seems to spawn obsessive behavior. I LIVE for e-mail and the snail mail. I will be glad when this is over. I think I'm done now with everything I can do. Waiting is very difficult.
I got interviews at all of the D.O. schools I'm considering, and I cannot wait to check them out. The downside of the D.O. schools is that they require BIG deposits to secure a spot in the class. We'll see what happens in that regard. I'm just happy to have interviews right now. The nice thing about AZCOM is that they only require $250 by December 15th, and then $750 by March 1st, so you have some time to get decisions back from other schools.
WHEW! I got my first acceptance today from AZCOM. That is a big weight off of me because I know I'm going to a great school where I'd be happy. I believe that the AZCOM program it top notch. I like OMM and the osteopathic philosophy a lot. It eases the pressure as I go into the UW interview in a few days. I know I'm going to med school next year! YIPPIE!!! :)
UW is my top choice. It's my state school, really cheap, and a great education. I'm really glad that the interview went so well. It was my best one yet. At this point I feel that I have put the best application forward that I can. That's all I can do. If I don't get in to UW, I will be heading to Arizona. :)
It is really nice to start eliminating schools and to begin to have a sense of the future. I cannot wait to hear back from UW. Unfortunately, I won't hear until mid-November, and MOST of the students get in after first being placed in the 'competitive pool.' Admissions are not rolling, so final notices may not go out until the first week in April. It would be a total bummer to pay $1,000 to AZCOM, only to be accepted the next month at UW. . . but I'd take it.
Well, I'm in the competitive pool at UW. They said that 51% of those in the pool will be accepted. I guess I need to pay the first deposit at Arizona. But as I said, I was thoroughly impressed by AZCOM and I'd be delighted to attend there. Even though I cannot yet nail down where I'll be, I'm happy with the outcome so far. I paid the first $250 deposit on December 1st. I hope I hear back from UW before March 1st.
1/24 I found out through the student forum that one can check the status of the UW application. Final action has been taken on my file, so I will get a letter this week (accept or reject). This is my top choice, by far, so I am VERY nervous!
1/24 I couldn't stand it...I called. I'm IN at my TOP choice!!! YIPPIE!!! :D
