Summary of Application Experience
This is my second round. I didn't make a profile last year but ended up waitlisted at GW and UNC.
This year AMCAS took WAY too long processing one set of transcripts and I couldn't submit until 6/29. So I wasn't complete until 8/13 which was much later than I had planned!
My GW acceptance came in the mail Saturday. It really didn't hit me until I told my teacher friends and students on Monday. Thankfully it was 'movie day' and I didn't have to teach! Today is Tuesday and I still can't believe it's real!
1/23: Received an interview invite from EVMS today. I was kind of surprised since I haven't heard a peep since October.
2/13: Withdrew from Drexel and Jefferson today. I love Philly but have lost interest in the Philly schools. Drexel never has any idea what's going on with my application - last year they never even bothered to reject me. Jefferson wasn't high on my list, but I'm familiar with the school so I applied. Oh well...besides, I love GW and know I wouldn't pick the Philly schools over GW if given a choice.
3/3: Withdrew from EVMS - mostly financial reasons. It was too much for me to take off work and travel etc.
3/10: Received acceptance phone call from UNC tonight!!!! I can't believe it!!! I am so excited!!!!!
3/31: Sorry I've been slacking. Work has been pretty crazy and I've been spending lots of extra time trying to get my students where they need to be for the semester. Anyway...I withdrew from the rest of the schools over the last month. I withdrew from GWU today. I love the school but I really can't afford to go there, especially at my age. I'd be lucky if I could pay off the loans before I croak. I went to second look at UNC on Saturday and really loved it. There was a much better mix of students than I thought there would be and everyone was great.
