    Summary of Application Experience

5/13: Received financial aid from Rush, and it was unable to match up to SLU, so I made the decision to withdraw. I will be a member of the St. Louis University Class of 2012! Good luck everyone!

5/10: Still have not received financial aid from Rush. I spoke to someone there, and they pretty much told me that they could not match SLU. I will most likely be withdrawing next week. I'm also a college graduate as of today!

4/27: Received my financial aid from SLU today. It wasn't that bad I suppose... got a 10K a year scholarship. I'm reasonably happy with what they gave me. I'm waiting on my financial aid from Rush to make a final decision!

4/15: Took an informal revisit to SLU today, which was enjoyable. I am very convinced that SLU is the place I want to be for the next four years, but I am just waiting a little bit longer to get my financial aid package from Rush. If there is no or very little difference, I'm joining the SLU SOM C/O 2012!

3/28: It's down to SLU and Rush. I'm more than 90% sure I'm going to go to SLU, but I'm still going to attend the Rush revisit to make sure SLU is where I want to go. I guess I'll also have to wait to see the way each school's financial aid packages play out.

3/24: Withdrew from the University of Illinois. Was dissatisfied with placement in Peoria. Rejected from JHU post-interview as well. I guess I sort of expected this given my ultra-low MCAT score (with regards to their average). It's down to SLU vs. Rush.

3/22: I received an official letter stating my acceptance to Rush. The last few days, the idea of going there has kind of grown on me. I decided that I'm going to withdraw from the University of Illinois. I would appeal my placement in Peoria, but I don't have a very convincing reason to want to go to Chicago (other then the obvious clinical advantages). I'm looking forward to attending the revisit at Rush, and hopefully setting up an informal tour at SLU so that I can really evaluate where I want to go.

3/19: Official rejection from Yale today, and I called JHU and they told me that I would be receiving a letter in the next couple of days. Bummer. Hopefully it's a waitlist so I still have a chance.

3/17: Accepted today to Rush Medical College in Chicago via e-mail!!! I'm excited about this, but I am real nervous about a decision from JHU this week!!!!

3/13: ~1 week until Hopkins releases decisions for my interview pool. I am staying positive, though admittedly my MCAT is probably lower than I (more importantly they) would like it to be. I felt that this was, by far, my strongest interview day, so I just have to wait and hope for the best.

3/3: According to SDN, JHU decisions should come later then I expected (~March 18th-22nd) I'm still excited/nervous to hear a decision.

2/28: Interviewed at Rush yesterday. I liked the school, though my interviews were some of the more unusual I have encountered. I would put it on par with SLU given each school's relative strengths.

2/15: Interview invite from Rush this morning! Excited to get the opportunity to check this school out! I've heard really good things about it!

2/14: Still no word from Yale or Rush, but I've basically given up hope with regards to those two schools.

2/4: Application process winding down for me. There are only three schools from whom I have yet to receive a final decision. I have yet to hear anything from Yale or Rush, so I am currently anticipating a rejection. I look forward to hearing from Hopkins in the next month or so!

1/29: Rejected by the University of Chicago via status page today. Was placed on hold so I pretty much expected it, although it is still dissappointing. Was probably my second choice after Hopkins.

1/18: Rejection letter from Northwestern via snail mail. Somewhat disappointing, but not terribly unexpected.

1/10: Accepted today to SLU! Probably my second choice if I don't get into Hopkins! Close to home and awesome clinical experiences! Received site preference card from UIC. I requested Chicago, but received UPR track, which I'm ok with. I liked both schools, and would have to seriously evaluate which one I wanted to go to if it came down to it. Look forward to finding out though!

1/4: Interviewed at Hopkins today. I absolutely loved it. My top choice. I REALLY hope I get in here!!!

1/1: Received official acceptance letters from both SIU and UIC. Withdrew from SIU. Accepted spot at UIC. I figured there was no sense in holding a spot someone else could have.

12/21: Two acceptances today! Acceptance when place available at SIU, and status change at the University of Illinois (which indicates acceptance according to SDN) Very excited.. I'm going to be a doctor!

12/17: I interviewed at SLU today. I REALLY enjoyed the school and the program. One of my top choices!

12/7: Interviewed thus far at SIU and U of Illinois. Both excellent schools with a lot to offer. Looking forward to upcoming interviews at St. Louis U. and Hopkins! Will update when I receive any word.
