Brief Profile:
Well, this application year is over for me :) Woot.
For profile assessing/comparing purposes: I majored in Psychology and Biology, graduated in 3 years from Hopkins and then took a year off.
I had lots of clinical experience (my ICU volunteering (600 hours) led to a clinical researcher job offer in my year off (...many more hours), yay), 6 months shadowing, 1 small publication and abstract (psych), one semester research in a psychology lab, and was president of a martial arts club (which I competed with since freshman year). I had no non-clinical volunteering and no bench/lab research (just a lot of clinical research).
I also play a lot of video games, MTG, like to draw, and am an amateur computer-geek, but that's neither here nor there (and was nowhere on my application, :-P ).
I was complete at all schools around start to mid Sept. (School committee ran into some logistic delays, but it all turned out ok)
People ask me what I think contributed to my application cycle going so well. I don't really know, but I was complimented the most on: My Personal Statement, my clinical work, and my numbers (in that order). I'm a fairly gregarious kind of person, and I think that definitely played a role in leaving a positive impression during the interviews. :) (Either that, or they figured that every class needs a blithering class clown to keep up the morale of the other students, and decided that I was good for that, haha.)
Yup.
Oh..and um..I'm engaged. I say this here not because it has any relevance to my mdapps, but mostly as a response to some of the comments I've received... Thanks, I'm flattered, but I'm spoken for. :) And the guy doing the speaking is big scary black belt, just FYI.

Summary of Application Experience
The waiting is eevvvvilll...EEEEVVVVILLLL
Bah, rejected post interview from Hopkins. It hurts not to even be on the wait list for my alma mater :( Sigh.
12/19: My first acceptance :) YAY! And from Pitt, one of my top choices and childhood home. Ranks 14 by US News standards, so now my parents can't complain, haha. Ahh..best christmas present ever! Definitely takes the sting out of the Hopkins rejection :)
Declined interviews from Mt. Sinai, Gtown, Jefferson, and Drexel due to Pitt acceptance. What can I say, Pitt has some of the best and most extensive facilities I've seen and I love the city.
12/21: Acceptance from UMaryland. Yay for state school love!
1/9/2008 I FINALLY TURNED 21!!!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! Ahem..and now back to our regularly scheduled programming..
March: WL Top of tier 1 for Penn....sniffle. GAAAHHHH
May 12 2008 at 2:20 pm: Got the best phone call ever. Accepted at Penn. SWEET. I'll be going to Penn next year :) PPPPEEENNNNNNNNN!!!!! Penn Penn Penn Penn Penn!
To be honest, I have no idea what prompted Penn to take me off the WL when they could have chosen others who had better stats and more impressive EC's than me (I've read some of those profiles, and am in awe of those people), I can only just be grateful. So very very grateful, lol.
GOOD LUCK GUYS! Thank you guys for all the well wishes and support! :) Hope I get some of you as classmates next year! And for those of you currently applying, best of luck! Maybe I'll get to be your student host or interviewer, wouldn't that be grand? :)
