Turned and verified by AMCAS in July Took the MCAT in September... Not too glad about results. Hope a lil' bit in my state school.
Finished most secondaries by the 2nd week of September. Did and turned in some secondaries early in August. Wanted to focus on MCATs and got lazy doing secondaries.
KEY: C - Complete application at schools II - Interview invite Int - Interview A - acceptance R - Rejected
10/22/07 Yay...some love from the state school :-)
10/25/07 Someone is playing a trick on me at Hopkins!!! Interview invite...10/25 for 11/xx
UCLA and Wake Forest - too lazy to type those essays... They had to screen my application before they sent these secondaries. Do them, do them!!!
UCLA secondary complete on 10/19
11/2/2007 - Three interview invites so far. Didn't think I would get thus far. Thanks to all those that pushed me to continue....
Complete at most schools except Temple, SuNY, GW, and prolly NYMC(The admissions lady is on vacation???? Hmm......I dunno). Letters of recommendation!!!! C'mon advisor.
Someone please make me write my Wake Forest secondary essays before its due.
No word from VCU !!! Might never hear from them.
I am currently shadowing some residents in different specialties, but I feel like it's too late in the cycle to be doing so. Well, let's see what happens.
And Dear God, I know I sin sometimes, but please let me get into medical school this year, because I do not want to go over this process again. Amen!!!
11/13/07 4 interviews and counting. Does anyone know whether it matters if you interview on a Saturday or not? Will your interviewers be groggy and pissed off? lol...like sleepy. Aah...it works for me. That is what matters.
12/11/07...Just back from my state school interview, and so exhausted, but happy about my UVA acceptance. It feels good to just sit back, relax and enjoy the show at your remaining interviews.
Aaah and first official rejection after my file has been reviewed from Georgetown.(Well...very random process I know).
12/31/07..........Happy New Year to me!!! despite the waitlist bummer from Hopkins. Anyways,
O thou Hopkins, my romance with thee is never ending... Alas....the forces that be prevent us....
01/25/08...Maryland is awesome. I did not know it was that nice. I seem to also like that area of town better. Maybe something with aesthetic value of a place adding to your happiness.
I am only actively considering three schools now.
1. Hopkins - waitlist 2. Maryland - would not hear till around March 3. Virginia - accepted. eeeerh and 4. Umass - cos of state tuition - dunno what's taking them so long anyways to make a decision.
Hopefully I get my first or second choice...(In my wildest dreams) My three top schools have research funding, international experience and reputation. Location makes Maryland my second choice. This is what drops UVA to #3. I also want to rotate as much as possible in their shock trauma center, as I am having a hard time deciding between emergency medicine and maybe general surgery. Their surgical and Emed residents study there.
Okay.....I take it back. Umass whoooowhoooooo 1/25/07.
Eeerh 100 bucks deposit. :-( not so yay...
Feb 12th 2008 Letter received from the University of Maryland that they do not know whether to accept reject or waitlist me. Is this Indecision Blvd 2008? Hopefully they do, because they are my #2 choice. Hopefully they do... in time too.....
Sometime in March.... Sent in an LOI because I really want to go to Hopkins (would not make much of a difference anyways), and I don't mind staying in Baltimore, since I already live here, and I feel a sort of loyalty to the place.
March 26th. Withdrew from Umass today. Very hard decision. I felt like I just ditched my family for someone else's. What if UVA decides to dump me tomorrow? It feels like I lost my security blanket.
March 31st. After 2nd look weekend, and reinforcement of the advantages of pass/fail from UVA students, it is now my #2 choice. 1. Hopkins 2. UVA 3. Maryland & I withdrew from Umass.
