Summary of Application Experience
I submitted my AMCAS towards the middle/end of June. They verified me in 6 days and I began doing secondaries in July. I retook the MCAT on July 24th, improved my MCAT by 6 points, and had some of my applications complete on August 23 (the day I recieved my scores). So far, I have all secondaries complete except for Loyola, from which I haven't recieved yet. As a result, I had first hand experience in the importance of applying early. Last year I applied late, got waitlisted at my first choice (long story to why I did not apply broadly). All-in-all, I have learned greatly from last year about the application process and am using that energy to get it right this year. The positive part is that for most schools, I am not an reapplicant (at least, they do not ask me if I applied to any school). I am doing a degree in Religious Studies my year off. One of the classes I am taking is Religion and Bioethics.
So far, I am off to a great start with three interviews and no rejections.
I have an interview at University of Miami on Monday, my fingers crossed!!!
9/24 - Had Miami interview, and it went decently. I find out on the 15th.
9/27 - Just got Loyola's secondary. I have until the 24th, so I will wait until the 15th to figure out if I should shell out another 70 bucks. I already have many schools.
10/9 - Called Wake Forest and found out I am in the top interview pool! That makes 4 interviews, 0 rejections so far.
10/9 - Just went on SLU's status check and saw I can make an interview date!! That makes FIVE interviews, ZERO rejections!
10/11 - Called Dr. Hinkley this morning. Did not tell me explicitly that I am accepted, but he did tell me that if Miami is my first choice that I can go ahead and cancel my other interviews. So yeah, I am going to be a doctor.
10/15 - It is official! I am going to become a doctor!
10/23 - Withdrew from University of Miami Boca Raton Campus and Georgetown today. Georgetown is too expensive, and I don't see myself living in DC. More to come.
1/19 - Been a while since I updated this. Well I withdrew from all mid tier schools except Penn State, mainly because I haven't bothered to drop it. In other news, months after I applied to all of these schools, I finally have my first rejection: Northwestern. Its like a historical landmark for me. I mean that tongue-in-cheek of course.
