Summary of Application Experience
'4/12/07-took MCAT. Hardest test I have ever taken. Felt like death after'
'5/07/07-Started AMCAS app' '5/16/07-Got MCAT scores-very suprised w/ results. I felt that I didn't do as well as I thought in verbal, but much better in biology than I thought I did, and physical felt about right,(but didn't expect a 15.)-Also sent off Transcripts from my universitites.'
'6/14/07-Finished AMCAS app. Judging from the fact that my stuff was processed by the 21st, I guess that was pretty lucky to get it in by then.'
'6/15/07-Got Married-don't want to try to do both of those(marriage and AMCAS) at the same time again'
7/07-9/07 Writing and submitting secondaries, Some I got out quick, others took WAY too long.
Early Sept. Rejected by Washington and Mayo--Should have seen washington coming. OOS, w/o any ties to the school, other than my Grandpa attended dental there, and I thought it would be cool to follow family tradition. As for Mayo, I think that I portrayed myself as too research intensive, although it could have really been anything.
9/25 Did Rosalind Franklin Interview. The people there were fantastic! I really liked the area, perfect size for me.
10/15-10/16 Did a combination SLU Wash U interview trip. Loved both of the schools (I'm easy to please). The facilities at BJ-WashU blew me away. I fell in love, and am hoping for some love there.
10/20 ACCEPTED TO RFU! I am so excited to be going somewhere! I had no idea how incredible this feeling would be, validation of the blood sweat and tears that I put into this endeavor. This is the second greatest feeling of my life! (The greatest was when my wife said yes to marriage..)
2/27 Been a bit too busy to update this. Its pretty much a battle now between Iowa and Wash U. I loved dartmouth A LOT, but my wife is a drafter, and I don't think she could have found a job in hanover (although I'm not so sure she is going to be able to find a job in cedar rapids either). However, each school (Wash U and Iowa has its merits). I constantly switch back and forth between each school each day. Hopefully I'll figure it out soon. I will update later then.
