research, shadowing, leadership, volunteer, fun stuff, blah blah blah. no one thing that's particularly spectacular, but a decent variety of activities.

Summary of Application Experience
So my rankings of the schools that I interviewed at (without considering financial aid or in-state tuition):
1) Northwestern 2) Emory 3) Case Western - Will be going here, half-tuition scholarship is very very helpful indeed
Small break
4) Vanderbilt
LARGE BREAK
5) UMD 6) Johns Hopkins
LARGE BREAK
7) UCSD 8) WashU 9) NYU
LARGE BREAK
10) UChicago
So after waffling a lot between Emory and Case Western, I just got a half-tuition merit scholarship from Case and so I will be going there. The difference between Northwestern, Emory, and Case Western was so marginal that they were almost tied in my mind without financial aid being a consideration, and I had basically decided that I'd go to the school that offered me the most generous financial aid package. Well, that's done now. Case Western Class of 2012!
Strange thing about WashU... they sent me an e-mail asking me if I wanted to stay on the waitlist. I replied with a no. Then the next day, they tell me that they're accepting me off the waitlist... I withdrew early the next week, after confirming that they are only offering need-based money (as was expected)
