I was a volunteer firefighter fo several years in college. As well I had worked consistently in a lab every summer since my sophmore year in high school. I also spent time each summer working in a inner-city pediatric AIDS clinic.

It was tough, but I was lucky to get an acceptance early on in the process, right now it is early July and I am still on 3 waitlists. Its a rough process but the reward is sweet, and I can say you come out a better person afterwards.
