Summary of Application Experience
My interviews were overall fairly casual. The strangest one I had was at Case Western, where my interviewer really seemed more interested in selling the school to me than learning about me. It was like he was already set on telling the admissions committee that I didn't belong at their school. When he walked me back to the office, I asked him, 'Don't you want to learn more about me?' and he said, 'To do that, I'd have to keep you here for a lifetime.'
I think in all of the interviews, I had a pretty big disadvantage in being young AND not being able to completely justify why I was still a good candidate in spite of my age -- that just goes to a lack of preparation. Of course, in some of the interviews, I was better at talking my way through than in others. If I had waited another year and gotten more clinical experience by SHADOWING doctors instead of 'just' VOLUNTEERING at a hospital, I think that I would have had an easier time during the interviews. I doubt that they had much to question regarding my MCAT scores and my grades, but I gave them a lot to question regarding my maturity and extracurricular experiences.

I've been officially placed on the alternate list at WashU -- at least, I hope they got my materials in time. Yesterday, I got a call from UTHSC, and a position opened up for me. I'll probably take it over the position at ETSU, just because I'm from Memphis and it'll be more convenient to make the transition there, I think, than it would be in Johnson City.
