Summary of Application Experience
I obsessed about the numbers, obviously, since my MCAT scores and GPA were pretty low. The committees from both Loyola and UIC saw past them (thank GOD) and really focused on my abroad, research and clinical experiences during my interviews. I also had a notable improvement in my course grades in my last year of school and had awesome recs (I knew the professors/advisors, etc really well and updated them CONSTANTLY since I applied about two years after undergrad). Most importantly, I submitted my AMCAS the first possible week since I had already worked on my personal statement for a couple months beforehand and had my letters of recommendation in waaay early. By the end of November, I had heard from all of my schools. My application to Northwestern was a little delayed though since it was recorded by my undergrad college that my recs had been sent, but for whatever reason, NW hadn't downloaded them so I was lucky I double-checked that my file was complete by either calling the schools or ensuring I had some type of electronic comfirmation.
