Summary of Application Experience
I'm making this profile a little late, but from what I remember:
06/20/06 (approximately): Got MCAT scores. Scored WAY lower on the Verbal than I'd thought I would... did I fill in the bubbles wrong or something??? On the plus side, the PS was higher than expected since mine was about 95% Physics and I totally suck at that subject. Oh well, at least my score's pretty balanced, right?
Mid-July through the end of August: Secondaries, secondaries, secondaries
08/15/06: First interview invite: Rochester! 08/17/06: Second interview invite: Pritzker! 08/30/06: Third interview invite: MCW! 09/13/06: Fourth interview invite: UVM! 09/27/06: Fifth interview invite: UCSD!
09/15/06: Interview at Rochester. I think it went well despite the fact that I got stranded in Atlanta and had to miss half of my interview day because of bad, bad luck.
09/21/06: Interview at University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. This one was better because I'd gotten more than one hour of sleep the previous night.
10/16/06: Interview at UCSD. Wonderful school! I got a great feeling about this one.
10/21/06: Interview at MCW. The students were awesome and I got the impression that I'd get a fantastic clinical education here.
10/23/06: Got an e-mail from Rochester saying I'd been waitlisted. Ouch, rejection is so painful!
10/24/06: Two rejection letters in one day: University of Maryland and George Washington University. What did I do?!?
10/26/06: Ack, another rejection: Case Western Reserve University has added me to its 'We reject you and everything you stand for' list.
10/31/06: Interview at UVM. Great students. Great program. Yay!
10/31/06: I got home from my flight back from Vermont to find a letter of acceptance from MCW! I'm going to be a medical student!!!!
11/11/06: Rejected from Brown. *sigh* Why is it that, even though one school clearly likes me, getting rejected still feels so... disheartening?
11/24/06: Got three letters today: One from UIC rejecting my sorry arse, one from Pritzker telling me that my appplication was 'continued' (i.e., waitlisted), and one from MCW thanking me for my $100 deposit.
11/29/06: Accepted to UCSD!!! I'm in shock -- but it's a good kind of shock. :)
12/2006: I'm withdrawing from most of the other schools, since I've been accepted to my top choice. Yay!
