  • Brief Profile: There are not many complete MD-PhD profiles on here, and especially not many URM ones, so I am hoping this helps ease (or feed) the neuroticism of some of you all out there. I know I have spent way too much time perusing these profiles so I like to think of this as an act of giving back.

I applied all MSTP and will be using this to keep track of my application cycle and write feedback for any schools that I interview at. I will not be posting too many personal details because, again, there are not very many URMs applying to MSTPs so I would be VERY easy to identify (demographics fudged for privacy), but I am hoping that my timeline, costs, and general application tracking and reflections will help out future applicants.

    Summary of Application Experience

    GENERAL TIPS/NOTES
    - I applied to 17 schools total, all MSTP.
    - I pre-wrote all my secondaries (highly recommend!!!) so I was able to turn almost all of them around in less than a day. Pre-writing honestly saved my life and I found secondaries so much less stressful than others did because of it. Check the SDN school-specific threads for secondaries and if you are applying MSTP, be careful because sometimes the MSTP prompts are different from the MD prompts. I tried to make sure the MSTP prompts were posted for all the schools I applied to.
    - I am applying from abroad. I will add some tips towards the end of my cycle for applying to MD-PhD from abroad, provided I dont completely f--- it up and die of fatigue lmao.
