Summary of Application Experience
I definately applied way too late. I took the August '05 MCAT and then took too long preparing secondaries, etc. Many classes were already full while my application was being considered for interview. Not good. I would be interested to see how I would have come out if I had applied earlier, but I got an acceptance I am happy about and don't want to go through the whole process again.
Obviously, I didn't create this page to brag about my monster numbers or accomplishments. I also am not trying to show off a long list of acceptances, either. I was fighting an uphill battle against a low undergrad GPA. However, my extracurricular involvement (namely full-time work in health care) helped to compensate for that.
If you take nothing else away from reading my experiences, apply early (or at least don't apply as late as I did), and don't get discouraged if you feel you are lacking in some way. My GPA was below average at every school I applied to (except Touro-MI) and I still got acceptances. Don't give up, take a chance, you never know what will happen in this crazy business of medical school applications.
