    Summary of Application Experience

Got the UVM Interview invite!!!! WOHOOOO!

-So you'd think i would have looked at the requirements more closely before, at least regarding psychology. I added a bunch of schools to the ol' AMCAS right before submitting, based solely on GPA and MCAT, didn't pay attention to prereqs. Turns out these are the schools I am not qualified to go to.

The rejections are starting to trickle in now, I got Feinberg's this morning. UGH. Keeping my fingers crossed for OHSU and McGill interviews. 11/16
Another rejection, GW. Great. Those long shot schools don't hurt as bad, but still it's not great to see the pool of potential schools getting whittled down. 11/20

Got OHSU's interview invite on 11/30!
SO the OHSU interview was execrable, just an experience I'd rather wipe from my memory. I would much prefer UVM to OHSU except for the OOS tuition. If you're curious about the interview at OHSU, google 'pre-med saga' and read my blog
SLU interviwe invite recieved 1/20/07. I had given up on gettin anymore interview invites since i had been complete at most of these schools since mid aug. Keep that hope alive! you never know when your file might spark some interest somewhere!

McGill rejection came the other day. DANG! I was really hopin'! I'm bilingual, lived in QC, that should count for something right? well, obviously it doesn't counteract a 29MCAT.

Opened my email 3/24, got an acceptance at SLU!!!! WHOOHOOOOO!! I'M gonna be a doctor!!!! The long waits and self doubt about getting in are over!!!!!
All you non-trads out there, you can do it!!!!

Now that the interview season is over, the rejections are flowing. MCW sent me theirs with a little not about how a lot of applicants applied early, so they couldn't get to mine. HUH? I filled out that dumb secondary August 10!!! There couldn't have been more than 100
    applicants in front of me!

OK, lots of comments about OHSU: heres' what happened.
For the enquiring minds: OHSU was a contentious and uncomfortable interview. They made me defend everything I had put on my AMCAS, with the underlying sentiment being that what I had done was insufficient. After listing my reasons for wanting to be a doctor, one of the interviewers stopped me short and asked me if I was insecure. The other interviewer made it seem as though I was inconveniencing her terribly, and that she was just going through the motions. I could see the list of standard questions, and she was just ticking through them to get it over with. That particular interview was awkward and uncomfortable after about 5 minutes, and I knew it would be another 55 minutes before I could get out. Overall, the whole thing was really unpleasant. I had really high hopes too, since it's my instate school and I really like a lot of other things about the school. The student guides were all reallly cynical and jaded about the place which was also pretty disheartening. If the school doesn't care enough to vet the student guides to find people who are knowledgeable and personable, then they can't be too unhappy if people choose not to go there.

SO, got the OHSU rejection today. OH well, I still got into medschool somewhere. OHSU was a really bad experience anyway and I don't think I would have been happy to go there.
Withdrew from Vermont Waitlist on 6/17 since i'm set on SLU.
