    Summary of Application Experience

    5/3/06- Starting in on AMCAS
    5/11/06- Sent out transcripts
    5/17/06- Transcripts received by AMCAS
    6/28/06- Submitted AMCAS!
    7/20/06- AMCAS Verified
7/30/06- Slacking on the secondaries, LOR hold ups and waiving of req's problems
10/25/06- Finally, the LOR is collected.
11/3/06- KU and UPenn are done, not status-wise, though. Scrambling to get these secondaries finished before the 15th.
11/27/06- Had KU interview today. All went quite well and I am happy to have some interview experience under my belt.
12/29/06- My first acceptance came in yesterday, Rock Chalk, baby! The letter took 7 days to travel 60 miles. Wtf?
1/9/07- Baylor was an awesome experience. Will write more about it after waiting two weeks...
1/12/07- Stanford rejection. I'm telling myself it is due to my SUPER-LATE application.
1/27/07- Cornell e-mail raises my spirits. Must set up a time...
2/13/07- UCLA phone call for invite! YAY! This makes NYC feel even colder.
3/22/07- Well it has been an experience. Cornell just waitlisted me, and I am still to hear from Baylor or UCLA. I felt like my interviews weren't bad, some weren't stellar but I don't think they hurt me. The current outcome leaves me questioning what the caliber of the bullet was with which I shot myself in the foot by applying so late. LORS CAN AND WILL HURT YOU IF NOT PROPERLY HANDLED--GET THEM STRAIGHTENED OUT BY THE SUMMER. Of course, it's only convenient to blame my lack of invites and acceptances (well, I'm yet to hear from Baylor and UCLA, but it's smelling like waitlists to me) on my late application. There could be and most likely are other factors that played their parts, but through some anecdotes and armchair statistics it seems too likely that the late app is to blame.
Where do I want to go? I'm not really sure yet. It seems that all the schools end up equal when comparing pros and cons. My main criteria? Location, Cost, Residency options, Relaxed learning atmosphere (e.g. Pass/Fail), Distance from family.
5/15/07- It's the 15th. Things are supposed to start happening.
