I (thankfully) got a first author publication in Anesthesiology and I am currently working on a chapter for a book on applied mathematics. I also presented posters at the American Society of Anesthesiology (2004 and 2005), and contributed to a poster at Neuroscience (2005).

A piece of advice: Apply as early as possible. My apps didn't get in until about mid october, and I think that had a pretty significant effect in this whole process.

Although, I got lucky... Northwestern was pretty much my top choice.
