Summary of Application Experience
Travelling around can get quite tiring. I suggest booking interviews in blocks if possible (ie: if you are from the West coast try to do East coast interviews together). Do not get discouraged if you do not hear back from some places early, or are waitlisted. It is really a crap-shoot when it comes to where people get in! Make sure that you make friends with your fellow interviewees! They may be your future colleagues/class mates... I met one guy who I interviewed with at three different interviews (around the country, ha ha).
So far I've gotten hosed from the 'top 10' schools in the country. Numerous pre-interview rejections and I was not even waitlisted for Harvard's HST program. Waitlisted at Penn ('Tier 1'), which was the first pseudo-rejection that really hurt. I'm hoping that UCSF comes through as my saving grace! Wish me luck!
Thank god for perserverance! I just got in off the waitlist at Penn and will be heading to Philadelphia this August!
