Summary of Application Experience
1/25- Just to follow up, Vandy is great. For those out there with tough decisions to make, Nashville is a really cool, laid back town and it does not really get cold. The school and faculty have been awesome. Overall, I am very pleased with my decision.
4/26- Withdrew from WashU (they wanted to know within a day). I loved the school, but after revisiting St. Louis, I feel like my best fit and best overall place for me is Vandy.
4/25- Offered Distinguished Scholars Scholarship (full tuition) at WashU.
4/24- Got my finaid packet from Harvard. $0 in grants or scholarships. Fun stuff. Somehow 58K a year isn't enticing no matter what name is on the diploma.
4/3- Turned down Woodruff fellowship at Emory. Loved the school but did not seet it as my best fit.
3/26- Offered Woodruff Fellowship at Emory.
3/15- Good news comes on Wednesdays. Invited to Woodruff Finalist weekend at Emory.
3/1- Just got my first scholarship offer. Full tuition + stipend from Vandy. Still pretty shocked.
End of Jan- Withdrew from a bunch after Stanford acceptance. Still interviewing at Duke and Baylor though. Also, still waiting on my university to send WashU my Dean's Certification. I don't know why it is taking them so long.
Jan- It has been a very long process. Be ready for the long haul once it starts. I have been very fortunate and am still waiting for a few interviews and decisions. It's going to get really tough really soon and I will probably revisit a bunch.
Dec - 16 invites with 8 done. It's a very intense process. I am mostly broke by now and tired of airplanes and dry cleaners. The Rhodes and Marshall process sort of sapped my energy plus I am presenting my research at the American Society for Cell Bio meeting in a couple of weeks.
