Brief Profile:
MCAT 2015: 513-517 range (Best advice to study for independent learners-> print out AAMC outline of topics, look up mcat-review.org, and use the topic outline as a study guide...also purchase AAMC question banks. Start taking practice tests BEFORE you feel prepared, and continue taking them as often as you can-even half of a FL now that they are so long. Princeton FL was not helpful for me, Next Step was most helpful and then also take the AAMC FLs available) GPA: 3.9+ scGPA: 3.9+

Rockstar research institution!
Summary of Experience:
Has great built in research!
Interview day was pretty chill, we had a tour that lasted ~1.5-2 hours around facilities (including hospitals) and then two interviews- one blind, student and one open, faculty. All were blind to MCAT/GPA, though. Research is so available here!
Rejected from PSTP program in December. Bummed, but I realistically was probably overshooting my chances since I have no publications or awards. Still holding out hope that this is in no way connected to my MD application... please, please, please...
Summary of Experience:
Really cool program for independent learner! Unsure about small class size but super interested in research
randomly logged onto iapply and found interview for both university and college track on a Saturday!!!
Very sad about being rejected flat out. BUT, I remind myself that I got one of the interviews out of 10% of applicants. Plus, I knew leaving Cleveland that my interview didn't go super well. They really are vetting for someone with significant experience in overcoming conflict in a professional realm, and I just haven't lived through that yet.
Summary of Experience:
Larger city than where I currently am, could be fun?! Good service focus.
The interview day was a little more hands-off and slightly more disorganized than other schools I've been to. However, everyone was very nice and I really enjoyed the tour of the children's hospital (even though I am not interested in peds!)
Positives about this curriculum are the ultrasound component, the standardized patients (this is their proudest feature), and a team-based learning component. Facilities are nice enough. Plus it's near the ocean!
Yay! My first (and so far only) acceptance. Not my top choice, but beggars can't be choosers! My main problem with this institution is that, during the course of my interviews, I realized that academic prestige is more important to me than I realized. I want to be somewhere that has top notch research opportunities and is widely respected in academics (since that is my ideal career path). EVMS does have some research, though, and I will certainly milk the utmost out of the opportunities here if this is where I end up!
