Legend: Secondary (R) received date (S) sent date (C) complete date
After 3 weeks of prcessing, AMCAS sent me an email, stating to the effect, that their dog had ate my transcript!? So i immediately sent them 2 more on seperate days, just in case. submitted 7/20. processed 8/25. NOT impressed.
I have called some admin offices asking about my app and everyone was very nice and helpful.
Most of these secondary turn around times were 2-3 days or less. Usually 1 day. There are some discrepancies due to the fact that I knew that i could not complete no matter what until AMCAS verified my app. After 8/25 the secondaries were done pretty quickly in the order they arrived. Some were held over the weekend due to inability to mail during the weekend.
*NOTE: Your app cannot complete unless the school gets your verified AMCAS primary. This is here because I received secondaries from some schools even though AMCAS had not verified my application. I sent those in and could not complete until AMCAS verified my app about 1.25 months later.
I also applied last year but my LORs were not sent out until mid Nov. So I essentially completed in december. For those of you taking August MCAT and applying, if you cannot get everything in by late september, save your money and wait till next year.
I simply don't believe those schools that claim they are non-rolling. After all, when they start interviewing in September, do they really wait until january or later to make a decision to accept? I think not.
I just realised people have dated updates so:
7/20 AMCAS submitted
8/11 AMCAS sends email, our dog ate your transcript from UMass - Boston
8/12 Expected AMCAS to finish processing soon so LORs sent
8/12 AMCAS received another copy of transcript
8/15 AMCAS receives another copy of transcript, just in case
8/18 Additional schools (Loyola, Tulane, UPitt)
8/25 AMCAS Processes primary
8/28 Additional schools (UCLA, UCSD, Vandy, NorthWestern, Emory, Mayo)
8/29 Added Duke
9/1 Second batch of LORs sent to added schools
9/9 Got email response from Stanford, they do not have LOR
9/9 Emailed pre-med committee to send another LOR to Stanford
9/17 Got some more completes. WashU sent me a letter today. I thought it was a rejection but it was just completion letter.
I just realised that BioChem is a life science! I had it as a physical science. doh!
9/20 Duke finally sent their secondary invite. I spent all day doing their essays. 7 down, 1 to go. This secondary is going out tomorrow. I dropped everything to complete this. Had to do the lab writeup for tomorrow though.
9/22 It turns out that I wasn't able to send the secondary in yesterday, like I planned. My grandmother suffered a fall and was in the ED for 7!!! hours. She was ok.
10/4 Harvard email - Complete
10/5 Loyola secondary going out today.
10/7 Drexel invited me for an interview! woo hoo!
10/7 Complete at Columbia!!
10/14 Complete at Stanford. The only school not complete is CWRU, I sent another LOR request to my pre-med committee.
10/21 Emergency appendectomy. the ER doc was great. I asked him questions about the medical field and he certainly made me feel welcome and taken care of. The surgical resident was hot. The surgery went well but I had to stay overnight because my appendix decided to burst.
10/27 Interview invite from UPitt!!! Woohoo.
11/4 Drexel is a really great school. The students love the place and the faculty and admission staff are focused on their students. The faculty that talked to us about PIL program had me nearly convinced from 'No Way' before the meeting. You could tell he really loves his work.
11/7 Got a rejection letter from Univ. of Chicago - Pritzker today. Happy birthday present for me. lol.
11/8 WOW! what a change between yesterday and today. I got an interview invite to DUKE!!! cool.
11/9 Finally complete at BU. I think I can assume that I've been rejected at the UC's. Haven't heard hide nor tail from them.
