Summary of Application Experience
Apply early, apply often. The process is expensive, so try only to do it once! It is amazing how few people apply as early as possible. You should be done with secondary applications in August (my first interview was in august), no later. Acceptances can start rolling in as early as october. Get extra letters of recommendation as the application year progresses, and send them in to schools you are interested in still, it helps a lot --especially at waitlist time. withdraw from other schools as soon as you know you won't go there.
During an interview, be quick to divulge all the good stuff about yourself that you want the interview to know, eg Interviewer: 'Nice weather today'/You:'yes, it reminds me of a poem of mine that won an award' -- you get the idea: so little time, so much good stuff to talk about.
