    Summary of Application Experience

    07/01/05
    - MCAT score came back suprisingly shitty; so much for making up for my abysmal GPA (which was nuked by 4 aweful quarters of Physics)
    - Applied almost exclusively to schools out of my range. Though I'm thinking about adding a few more schools, I'm already planning on reapplying next year with a better GPA.
    - Sent in application today, which was slightly later than I wanted to. Family wouldn't leave me alone for the past two weeks so I couldn't get my damn personal statement finished until today ;)

    07/19/05
    - AMCAS finally processed today, hopefully will be receiving secondaries shortly.
    - Came into a little money recently, so added 7 more schools just for the hell of it.

    08/05/05
    - First rejection of the season. Ironically, it came from a school in which I actually thought I had a chance (Wake Forest). The PDF attachment rejection was absolutely classic.

    09/03/05
    - Decided to submit the Creighton secondary. I'm still struggling with the Duke secondary but hope to get it out later this weekend. Patiently waiting for notices from UCLA, UCSD, and UCD.

    9/22/05
    - Turns out I never got around to finishing that Duke secondary. I'm probably not going to bother submitting it, especially considering that my chances of attending Duke are so slim as it is.
    - Complete at most schools I've applied to. It's true what they say; waiting is the hardest part.

    10/11/05
    - Sigh.

    10/31/05
    - Just recieved a rejection from MCW. If I'm being rejected at a school like MCW then I probably don't have a chance at any of the other schools I've applied to. It's time to put medical school on the backburner for a while; I'm thinking about applying to the NIH program I've been hearing so much about. Well, it's either that, or be a complete bum during my year off. Right now, the hobo lifestyle actually doesn't seem so bad...

    - Sorry I've been lagging on updates, I forgot that I applied to medical school this year. Aside from the akward silence I've been getting from the schools that haven't rejected me yet, the only news since the the last update are rejections from Boston and Chicago, and a UCI hold. I understand that recieving an interview at this point would just be for a spot on the waitlist, so I'm already looking ahead to reapplying next year. I still have no idea what to do with my time next year, but I have been working on my 'Do you have fries with that' technique. Of course, that's assuming McDonalds doesn't laugh at my 3.5 GPA and 31 MCAT score.

    12/18/05
    - What better way to ring in the holiday season than with more rejection letters? Dartmouth was probably the most professional school I've dealt with throughout this whole process, and the school itself is way out of my league, so I fully expected the letter from them. NYU hasn't sent the rejection yet, but their interview season is over so there's no hope there as well. I haven't even recieved a secondary from the remaining UCs, so those are as good as a rejection as well. I've really become quite the expert in rejection letters, maybe this is all a sign that my true calling is to be a medical school letter writer.
