    10/13/2005 - Interviewed at KCOM.

10/19/2005 - Accepted to KCOM!!! Great School! My choice will be between KCOM and DMU.

11/07/2005 - Accepted to UNECOM! Great to know. I wasn't impressed with the wait. It was my first interview. They said I would know either way within 4-6 weeks. It's been 8 weeks. Not as professional as I would expect from them. It seemed like a great school. Great Location.

WOW! It's been a fun process. Last year I had no expectation of being accepted to any schools. Now I've been accepted to all the schools I applied to. I didn't expect this in my wildest dreams.

    My thoughts on the schools:

UNECOM - Awesome location! I love the atlantic coast! The school seemed great. It has a a class size of around 120, which is nice. The only thing that scared me away was a bad year of below average boards last year.

NSUCOM - Great school. Some silly rules about attendance in my opinion, but nothing that would prevent me from attending the school. Great COMLEX pass rates, and the dean is awesome. The big drawback for me was cost of living in Ft. Lauderdale. $1200 a month for a one bedroom apt. next to the school.

KCOM - From the start I felt that KCOM would be my number one choice. I have friends at school there and they love it. It has a great tradition and always get good residencies. It is one of the premier D.O. schools. Kirksville is bigger than I expected and a very nice small community.

DMUCOM - I showed up for the interview expecting DMU to be my 3rd choice school. I left the interview wondering how KCOM was going to beat it. I was impressed. The facilities are amazing and the people are extremely friendly. The students seem to get along well with each other and were helpful with the interviewees. The other schools I went to, the tour guides were great, but the normal students didn't really talk to us. My wife and I visited both KCOM and DMU; DMU impressed us both. Des Moines is a great city and the cost of living is still low. My wife and I feel that the city of Des Moines is a better fit for us than Kirksville. I sat down with a friend of mine who is at KCOM, and we tried to pick apart the differences. The schools are extremely similar. They even have many of the same rotation and residency spots. The curriculum at KCOM consists of more classes at once than DMU, which run for a longer time. DMU has fewer classes at once that are more intense for a shorter period. DMU also has alot more elective time in the rotation years. My friend at KCOM told me that this was a big positive. Right now, I feel about 95% sure that I'll be at DMU next fall.

It's official! I'm headed to DMU! See you there!
