    Summary of Application Experience

    6/28: AMCAS verified
    6/29: AACOMAS verified
8/10: First interview invite (Arizona COM). I am glad to get my first invite and excited to check the school out. Definitely one of my top choices out of the DO schools I applied to.
8/17: Interview invite no. 2 (Des Moines University). Originally offered 9/29 interview date, but I'm going to interview in Portland 10/29 instead.
9/7: Done with all my apps, all my letters sent.
9/12: Interview invite no. 3 (Chicago COM). Should be good.
9/15: Did my mock interview with 2 professors from my school. It went pretty well, but I was kinda rough on a few ethical issues and current event issues. I guess that's why they offer mock interviews!
9/20: Got my second hold (GW and Georgetown now). Oh well, DC didn't seem that great to me anyway.
9/21: 'Possible interview list' at Rosalind Franklin. I take this as a good sign? I hope so; Just got my interview at UW! Could not be more excited about the possibility of going to the single best medical school in the world. Wow! :)
9/26: Just got back from my AZCOM interview. Went well and I really liked the school. If I go DO, I think this one will be it. If any other applicants have questions, send me a PM on SDN. I'd be happy to share my experience; Also just got another 'possible interview list' e-mail, this time from Medical College of Wisconsin. I don't know if this is just a nice way of saying 'hold' or not. Hope it's a good thing!
9/27: 10/12 interview invite for Rosalind Franklin. Nice!
10/5: I will attend medical school next year! Just got my first acceptance--AZCOM. Hell yes!
10/11: I had my CCOM interview today. I had a good experience (low stress interview) but really didn't get the same 'wow factor' that I had at AZCOM. It is obviously a quality school, but I'm not sure the school or Chicago as an area are for me. The most difficult part of turning down a CCOM acceptance would be passing on the outstanding rotations and opportunities for residencies. That might just end up being a deciding factor for me. Tomorrow is my Rosalind Franklin interview so we'll see if I get a different feeling from them.
10/12: Today was my Rosalind Franklin interview. I had two seperate interviews for a half hour each and I felt one went incredibly well and one just went okay. I am much more excited about the possibility of attending the school after the interview than I was going in. It is really a great school: awesome facilities (best cadaver lab I've ever seen), great opportunities for rotations/residencies, great board scores, and an absolutely incredible match list. If I get in here, it is going to be a very tough decision between AZCOM and RFU.
10/22: Rejections are starting to pour in quickly now. Received Buffalo and Drexel rejections in consecutive days. I now have 13 schools I haven't heard from at all, 2 holds, a 'possible interview list' school, and 2 interviews left.
10/26: Oklahoma State offered me an interview yesterday. The original dates offered conflicted both with my UW interview and a lot of exams, so I am tentatively going to agree to an interview for 12/1. I was hoping for some Thanksgiving/Christmas break slots, but none were available I guess.
10/27: I just put down the $250 initial deposit to reserve my spot at AZCOM until March 1. I had to pay by 12/15 and I am not likely to hear back from Rosalind Franklin, the University of Washington, or Oklahoma State University (my other top schools I have invites at) by then. Hopefully by March 1 I will have a better idea if AZCOM will be my final destination!
10/30: Yesterday was my DMU interview. I liked the school far more than I anticipated. I am so conflicted right now!! If DMU offers me a quarter or half scholarship and I don't get into UW, it will be very hard to turn down. After my interview, I think there is a chance I might be offered a scholarship. I guess we'll see.
11/6: I got accepted to CCOM but I am not interested for a variety of reasons. At this point here is my ranking of the schools I have interviewed at: 1) UW, 2) Rosalind Franklin, 3) DMU (only with a scholarship), 4) AZCOM. I really like all four but I'm hoping for either UW or RFU.
11/11: Just got accepted by DMU. I liked the school, but the only way I'd go over my other options is if I got some sort of scholarship.
11/26: Should hear from UW on 12/2 and RFU before 12/15. Getting antsy!
12/13: Well, in one fell swoop, I was waitlisted by both UW and Rosalind Franklin. It sounds like I had the misfortune of being in the first RFU interview group in history where 30%, rather than 60%, of the people were accepted. I guess that means I have better odds of getting pulled off the waitlist? As for UW, I am not surprised but I am disheartened. Oh well...at least it is not a rejection at either.
1/13: Just got a totally shocking invite to interview at SLU. I am very excited (especially since they offer a Seattle interview!).
2/9: SLU interview went well, but I won't hear back for 4-10 weeks. That, combined with no decision yet from Rosalind Franklin or the University of Washington, means I will be paying my last deposit of $750 to AZCOM. Man...I am broke.
3/21: I interviewed October 12th at Rosalind Franklin but apparently they still haven't had enough time to make any sort of decision about me. Oh, and they won't until as late as June. This process f*cking sucks.
3/23: Here we go again. Alternate list at SLU. I'll hear about UW in a few days I guess.
    3/27: It's a no go on UW.

    As of 2/9: $7,224 spent
