- >2000 hours clinical experience (paid) as an emergency department scribe. - One week long medical mission trips to rural area in Texas (x3) - Sporadic grade trend - No research experience - Strong LORs (physicians I've worked with x2, professor I took then graded for x1)
I didn't realize that my engineering classes didn't count towards my science GPA prior to applying, so I didn't know how poor my BCPM was. However, I made it a point to address this in my application by admitting that I was torn between pursuing medicine or engineering, so I lacked motivation to do well in my classes. During my first medical mission trip my junior year is when I knew with 100% certainty that I wanted to pursue medicine, and at that point my GPA increased (fall semester of junior was my worst semester academically).
