Summary of Application Experience

Application tips/mistake I may have made:
-Plan to take the MCAT well before the cycle to ensure timely AMCAS submission
-Start early on asking for and receiving your letters of recommendation, these take some time and became quite
stressful leading up to the submission if you wait as long as I did on some
-Start the personal statement at least a month or two before the submission date as you'll want many people to read it and to be able to let your ideas stew to perfection for a while
-Submit letters and transcripts quite early to ensure no delay on application and reduce any stress
-Turn in the primary application during the first week the application is open
-PREWRITE SECONDARIES! I spent the month between AMCAS submission and secondary arrival diddle dallying around instead of prewriting some secondaries. Pick out some of the common questions and start prewriting and you will love yourself down the road.

7/16 - First rejection. Ouch. Oakland rejection was a bit of a jolt, but it's far too early to worry much.

8/22 - First two IIs to Tulane and USC!! Helps take out some nerves.

9/30 - Relieved to have finished two interviews. Haven't received an II in over a month, but I'm just focused on the excitement of the upcoming interview results for two top choices.

10/14 - USC waitlist. Not great after no IIs for over 2 months. Tulane is now my lifeline. Pretty bummed but not quite panicking yet.

10/24 - First Acceptance and to an amazing school!!! Dreamin!!!

11/5 - Withdrew from 6 schools. Feels good.

1/27 - UCSD finally shot me down which stung, but I'm loving Tulane and ready to travel for a few months after the crazy roller coaster.
