Summary of Experience:
First rejection (first hearing back from anywhere)! Disappointed, really liked this school, but that's why I'm applying to so many schools I guess.
Summary of Experience:
8/20 - Another interview! Looks like I'll be traveling some in the Fall :) 10/2 - I had my interview yesterday! Pitt is definitely a research powerhouse but they're so much more relaxed than I thought they'd be. Every student I met was down-to-earth, helpful, and likable. The school also has good programs in health policy and global health, and I really like their curriculum. I like the city a lot too - I think I'd be really happy going here.
Summary of Experience:
8/19 - First II!!!! Ecstatic and relieved. 9/15 - Interviewed today. There were two interviews in the morning (but others had two in afternoon or one in morning, one in afternoon). Both very conversational - point was to get to know me so they asked both generic MD interview questions and personal questions about family, outside interests, etc. Interviewers were amazingly personable and helpful. After interviews, there was a financial aid session, a session by Dr. Foxwell, and a tour. The facilities are really great and all the students I talked to were happy. It seemed like this is a school for the go-getter - some of the extra programs other schools have such as structured research, global health, and early patient exposure programs are just being developed at Maryland. The campus is in a nice area and there appears to be some collaboration between the various graduate schools, which is cool. Another good thing is that classes are done by 12pm most days so there's a lot of time to study and pursue other things. Overall, great school and I would be honored to go here!
