Summary of Application Experience
I applied very late in the year which worked against me. Get that AMCAS application and your transcripts in first thing! I'm a horrible essayist so all those applications were a beast. Interviews were fun but once I was accepted by the U of Iowa I started turning down other offers from schools that were less appealing (I really liked U of Iowa). I ended up being accepted at my dream school, UCSF, which had a lot to do with luck. To prepare, I read the NY Times daily, especially the science sections, listened to the news on the radio a lot, and listened to old interviews on npr.org on anything that had to do with medicine or healthcare. Did a mock interview with a business friend. Used studentdoctor.net to get a sense of likely interview questions at individual schools.
