Brief Profile:
Disregard the written score on the MCAT. Due to some problems with the premed office (lost letters), my secondaries were all complete super late, about October 23. I have still had luck getting interviews, so it isn't the end of the world if you submit late. I don't recommend it though.... haha
I will post an in-depth look at ECs and whatnot after this whole process is completed.....so hopefully before the end of summer. I hope this helps someone out that will be running the applications gauntlet. Expect nothing. Seriously. This process is so unpredictable.
Summary of Experience:
Didn't hurt as much as I thought it would to be rejected. They have a fantastic reputation, and it would have been wonderful to have a chance, but after going on a few interviews, I am already quite excited about what options I already have, so I wasn't too sad. I would love to know if I would have had better luck had I submitted earlier, but what's done is done!
Summary of Experience:
I think that may essays were a bit weak, which may explain the rejection, though IIs are few as it is. I would have loved to check out the place, but oh well.
Summary of Experience:
Excellent school. Everything was top notch quality, and the faculty and students were unbelievably accommodating and engaging. Everyone at the school was so worried that I wouldn't like St. Louis. I liked the city, personally. haha
Sent in an update of a few new activities and reiterated my interest in the school...and the girlfriend got an interview invite!
Summary of Experience:
My girlfriend just went to her interview and came out with quite a positive opinion of the school, so I am quite excited to visit and make a more informed opinion for myself.
...so after the interview, I am very excited about this school. Super nice facilities and a lot of opportunities to help out in the Atlanta area. The students seemed happy yet motivated, and overall the visit was great. Now time for some more waiting until the next interview.....
Summary of Experience:
I applied here on whim, not expecting an II, so this was a pleasant surprise. After some more research I am super pumped about the school and appreciate the non-rolling admissions! I love Philly and would love to live there for med school.
After the interview, I like this place even more! Such an awesome and open student body. Even the orientation powerpoint was engaging. I understand that with just average research, it may be a reach for me, but if accepted, this would be one of my top choices.
Sent in an update letter.
Second update sent.
Waitlisted but still feeling positive. I will have a few substantial updates coming up, which I think may help put me over. Here's to hoping for good news to come!
Summary of Experience:
What a nice finals present! My girlfriend and I are trying to go to the same med school, and this is one of the schools that we both have gotten an II at! She is crazy about this place, so I am very interested to visit and get a good impression.
Bummed about the waitlist, but will be sending an update letter, which should make my app much stronger. By far the most enthusiastic student body. They LOVE UVA.
Summary of Experience:
This was a huge surprise, as I thought all interviews had been awarded. I have missed a good bit of class, but I don't think one more day will hurt. haha
My day was cut a bit short due to my flight time, but I quite liked what I saw. The faculty and students seem pretty cohesive, and the school seems to put heavy focus on giving the student freedom to be the strongest they can be in whatever field they want to pursue.
...I really wish I could have seen the med center, but I left with a very positive impression. This being my last interview, I will now just wait to see where everything falls and figure out my final decision!
Summary of Experience:
MCG is home to a lot of my friends, so I liked it before arriving. They are getting brand new facilities for the 2018 class, so that is a huge plus. Also, they just got a huge donation which will let them set up some scholarships. I left very impressed with the improvements that the school is making.
