Brief Profile:
THE THEME OF MY APP YEAR: let's do this! ;)
EDITEDIT: and my real stats. hopefully this is helpful! but just remember that everyone is different, and your app cycle may be very different than mine.
stats: semi-traditional applicant. took gap years.
ECs: -- >1000 hrs clinical volunteering -- >500 hrs research (clinical + bench), no pubs, presentation -- <100 hrs shadowing -- >500 hrs teaching, both paid and volunteer -- miscellaneous leadership positions -- PBK
LOR -- 2 sci profs -- 1 nonsci prof -- 1 clinical volunteering supervisor (this one was superb; i had an interviewer comment on this letter haha.) -- 1 clinical volunteering supervisor/primary care provider -- 1 teaching mentor/supervisor -- 1 research supervisor/undergrad mentor i think my best letters came from my non-academic letter writers, since i got to know all of them pretty well.

Summary of Application Experience
updates: 7/2013 - submitted primary. BIG MISTAKE, as i soon find out... :( verification crisis delay. sigh. 9/15/13 - all secondaries are finally in! :) all secondaries = 2 week turnaround at the most. now to sit and wait. 9/26/13 - finally some news from various other schools. :) 10/1/13 - yay! things are coming along, slowly but surely... 10/7/13 - things are picking up! would love to end this season with 6 interviews. :) 10/10/13 - excuse me as i hyperventilate... despite being late by SDN standards, OMG! 11/11/13 - whoop whoop. <3 i'm very happy right now! hit my desired # of interviews. now... can i get an acceptance?! 11/11/13 - i'm. going. to. be. a. DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOSH! 11/26/13 - you know that song by macklemore? thrift shop? 'cause yeah, "this is [bleep]ing awesome!" 12/10/13 - see above. :3 woo hoo! i am really excited since i love both schools! can't wait for second look! 12/20/13 - humbled. truly humbled. <3 excited for my final interviews! <3 1/20/14 - i guess schools are still giving out invites! :D but omg! haha! i'm so close to a 50% return... which is pretty nifty. :) 1/29/14 - wow. i didn't think that interview went so well... but I GUESS IT DID! still debating on whether to make USC my last one or to bite the bullet and go to philly for temple. now that the interview season is now winding down, i can safely say that i'm a solid mid-tier applicant from my interview invites. :3 5/13/14 - finally settled on a school. guess i'll be going to... dun dun dun... UC DAVIS! go ags! <3 can't beat the sheer number of student-run clinics & its focus on the underserved and primary care. after this cycle ends (and i officially start school), i'll be happy to update my profile with my actual stats. :)

Summary of Experience:
applied for the funs and giggles (didn't think i was good enough for ucsf), so TOTALLY surprise secondary. maybe surprise interview?! :D patiently waiting.
Summary of Experience:
uci's secondary was interesting. also, way to raise my hopes up with "schedule interview" on the same page as my (then-unsubmitted) secondary. d'oh.
Summary of Experience:
placeholder for wmu. online interview was interesting. but i'm intrigued by this school. would love to check it out.

update 2: OMFG that phone interview. i think i did okay (some questions were definitely like WTF) but yeah. don't feel too great... and i started getting really tired at the end. who decided that 49 questions = good idea?!

UPDATE #2: I'MMA BE A DOCTOR! and at one of my top choices going into this cycle! :3 HOLY CRAP!
update #3: :( loved this school on interview day, but i just couldn't go knowing that i'd be OOS + H/HP/P/F system + lack of working with the underserved. but toledo truly is a hidden gem. <3 loved the school, absolutely loved the people.
Summary of Experience:
hoping for an invite! love the mission statement. send me some love oakland! <3
got some love! <3 <3 <3
update: WHAAAAT. puts me at 5/5 going into my last interview!
EDIT: it was between this and another school. LOVED the people + the $$; just couldn't handle the curriculum (80%) and the location (20%). :( but you are awesome oakland! keep doin' what you're doin'.
