Brief Profile:
36Q MCAT, AMCAS and AACOMAS GPAs < 3.2.
I didn't do so well in undergrad, so I went to work for a few years to better myself as an applicant. I worked hard for a good MCAT score, and did everything I could to make myself more competitive.
3 years of experience managing a neuroscience lab after graduating. One first-author publication, two second-author publications, and a fourth manuscript in prep.
A couple of grad/post-undergrad classes at top-ranked New England schools with a post-grad GPA of > 3.8.
Hundreds of hours volunteering in a top-ranked hospital ED.
10/9/13: More hopeful for an acceptance somewhere since I now have two interview invites! Also hoping for some love from the two DO schools I applied to rather late. :)
11/1/13: Absolutely zero communication between October and November. The silence is terrible while watching interview spots fill up through January! I wish I had a job where I wasn't sitting at a computer all day... constantly refreshing my e-mail...
3/27/2014: Committed to MSU-COM. Accepted there in November, and I think it's my best choice for a great medical education. I'm sick of waiting for CMU and Albany, and think MSU would be the best fit regardless.

Summary of Application Experience
I've realized there's nothing quite like waiting through 9+ months of silence for disappointment. What a stressful process.
Summary of Experience:
Small-pooled. I'm not sure if this is necessarily a good thing, since it seems like everyone is put into the small-pool after review.
Summary of Experience:
Stand-in for Western Michigan University. REALLY excited for the possibility of being a part of their first class! I'm really really really really hoping for a campus interview (completed everything else).
Summary of Experience:
Rejected after a little over 5 months. Sent in a letter of interest as well as two publication updates. Pretty disappointing after making so many "cuts".
Summary of Experience:
Applied late... but I love everything about this school! Kicking myself for applying so late since it seems like they reward high MCAT and don't look TOO much at GPA.
Summary of Experience:
Visited campus for a tour. Really enjoyed it. I identified with the students and could really see myself there. I'm still not convinced about OMM, but it was fun to see it in action!
Summary of Experience:
Stand-in for Central Michigan University. Put "on hold" 10/15/13 (basically a rejection based on what was said at the interview). I could not have been more disappointed, since it was my first interview and a school I was really excited about.
Summary of Experience:
Really impressed after interview! I love the fact that the school is integrated in the medical center. Facilities are a bit antiquated, but the students seemed really happy and pleased with their education. Waitlisted = Under Consideration on 11.19.2013
