Brief Profile:
Double major with honors in both Biology (3.85) and Psychology (3.75) Upward trend in grades. I got a 3.0 the first 3 semesters. Took time off and moved to Colorado for a semester. I returned to school and started on the pre-med path. I also took 21 credits of upper-level science my last semester, and got a 4.0 so that may put to rest any doubts about my GPA.
Research: NIH postbac Sept. 2011-Present. TBI research involving stem cells, MRI, surgery, ect. I was thrown into an existing TBI group with 4 projects underway. I have been working on the 4 projects simultaneously for the past two years and things are finally coming together for publication. Undergraduate neuroscience research 3 years. Neurotherapeutics for ischemic cell death.
Publications: Multiple posters at regional and national conferences, mostly at SFN. 2nd and 3rd name on multiple talks given at conferences as well. Recently accepted manuscript from undergad research and working on 4 more to be submitted soon from current work.
Volunteer: Trip to Nicaragua to help a rural community. Photo documentary project, health education, and fund raising music and surf festival. Nov. 2012 Shadowing an internist every Thursday morning at USUHS. Sept. 2012 Started shadowing in the neurosurgery department at NIH. Summary of Experience:
Decided to reject Georgetown. I didn't like the two page egocentric why GT secondary essay and the fee is ridiculous. I just don't think you were a good fit GT.
