Summary of Experience:
Long interview day, started at 8AM with a couple of presentations, a PBL practice, and then we were bussed over to the main hospital, which was impressive, to say the least. There we had an amazing lunch and then were interviewed by two faculty members.
Pros: Amazing facilities, innovative curriculum which is extremely responsive to student feedback.
Cons: Location: ~45 minutes outside of Detroit. Would be much more difficult finding things to do on the weekends than at other schools. Far from home as well, hospital is far from the medical school.
Summary of Experience:
Short interview day. Started with a short talk about the school, followed by the faculty interview. Then lunch, in a conference room and not the faculty cafeteria, sadly, due to construction. Then the student interview and a tour of the school.
Pros: Close to home, good curriculum with joint degrees and international programs.
Summary of Experience:
Long day, started at 8AM. Had a bunch of talks about stuff that was emphasized in their curriculum, with interviews bunched up together at the end.
Pros: CA weather, good facilities, good curriculum, students seem very relaxed and happy
Summary of Experience:
Interview summary: Made us get there really early (7;15AM), which in Chicago is a hard thing to ask for considering the chill and the wind. Had a few presentations with the associate dean for admissions after which were the first of the interviews.
Had a semi-group (2 interviewees and 1 M4), and then two faculty interviews, before lunch.
After lunch we had a few more presentations about various programs, and then a tour of the school.
Pros: Highly ranked (top 20), strong research (building new $2 billion center), great city
Cons: Did not get a good vibe from the people, both applicants and interviewers seemed very gunnary and businesslike. Did not seem to want to get to know us as people, more to just evaluate us on our personal merits and that was all.
Overall: Good school, would attend if CA schools do not accept.
Summary of Experience:
Second of a back to back interview trip. Got in the night before and did not have as much time to see the city. What I saw though was that Tufts is in Chinatown, not the nicest area, and Boston in general isn't the cleanest or safest place to be.
That being said, the school has a strong curriculum, speerheaded by a 4 year integrated MD/MBA program associated with Brandeis university.
Students seem happy, facilities are very nice, and match list is fine. But the school is far from home, expensive, and it would be tough being a third banana in Boston after Harvard and BC
Summary of Experience:
Stayed with my Jefferson host because the Temple guys were studying and told me I couldn't stay with them, which was fine.
Temple medical school itself is a very nice, new, and pristine. It is not in a very nice neighborhood, and depending on your demographic you might not feel comfortable there.
Interviews were one faculty, one student, and one RAR (minority). Chill interviews, open file, seemed to want to now about certain aspects of my file.
