Summary of Application Experience
3-30-05: COMP has accepted my deferral and I've mailed my deposit to them. So this is it! I'm going to COMP next year for the class of 2010. I'm withdrawing from all my other schools now. I'm glad this process is over and I can focus on the rest of my for a little while. I wish anyone going through this the best. It's a tough road, but if you work hard you can achieve your goals.
3-16-05: Well it's finally all paid off! I got my first acceptance to WesternU/COMP! My first choice! I'm so relieved. I've already attended interviews at LECOM-Erie and TUCOM-NV, but I'm cancelling my TUCOM-CA interview, and am withdrawing my other applications. I am going to request a deferral for 1 year to COMP, but if it's denied I'll still attend this fall. It will just be more difficult, but that's okay. I got in. That's all that matters!
2-10-05: The secondaries have been rolling in for the DO schools, and I got my first interview! COMP is my first choice, so I'm really excited about this one. Hopefully I get some more though.
2-4-05: My AACOMAS application finally got sent on 1-26-05, and I'm starting to receive secondaries from my schools. COMP is my top choice, so I'm really hoping for an interview there. I'm still very concerned that I'm too late for this year's application cycle.
12-12-04: I decided to apply to DO schools. Recently I've gotten an opportunity to shadow a DO and she's willing to write me a letter, so I decided to go ahead and submit this year. I'm really excited about this new prospect. I just hope I'm not too late!
I applied early with a poor April MCAT score (22N), and retook in August. That slowed things up for most schools, then I only ended up with a 23Q. The rejections are starting to roll in, so we'll see. I'll be studying my butt off until next April, though, so I can take the MCAT again and make my chances much better for next year. This has been a HUGE learning experience for me. I know I'll get in next year, if this year doesn't work out.
