Attended community college for 2 years with a near perfect GPA, then transferred to UCLA as an Anthropology major. Did well the remainder of my college years. ** Took the MCAT twice. Background: Older applicant due to bizarre life experiences (graduated undergrad at 24). I had 2 gap years in my transcript where I was out of college to work and support myself. At the end of the day, I think the adversity strengthened my application because it was a focus during interviews.
ECs: - 6 years of clinical research experience at CHLA serving an underrepresented minority population: HIV positive teenagers, homeless LGBT youth, and high-risk youth. Conducted qualitative studies. - 3 years of work experience - Extensive volunteer experience in public health and LGBT communities. Published websites, papers, and presentations on a variety of social welfare and advocacy topics.
