Applied to 12 schools to begin with. After some soul searching, I realized I didn\'t want to leave the South Carolina/Georgia area. Thus, I only continued applications for those schools (minus Emory, as I didn\'t feel competitive enough). USC Greenville opened up for applications in October, so I applied there for a total of 13 schools.
Summary of Experience:
Only school on my list I have visited beforehand and know about in-depth. Love their problem-based learning approach. Attended interview in the beginning of December. Thought the interview went extremely well, but put on hold.
Summary of Experience:
Only school I applied to that required more than a pre-medical committee letter. Though I have amended this issue and contacted them numerous times, I believe this caused severe delays in processing of my application. Interview invite on 1/17 for mid February.
Attended the interview and fell in love with the school. Great campus feel, great opportunities, friendly staff and students.
Summary of Experience:
Home state flagship (Go Gamecocks!) Campus is close to family, so very convenient. Attended interview in November. Tough crowd, rejected in April.
***I have also applied to the brand new USC Greenville SOM, and have been accepted! Nothing but good things to say about this place. PBL, system-based learning. EMT training upfront. Located in a beautiful city. Although it is \'new,\' the host hospital, who\'s campus holds the new medical school, has been training third and fourth year students for the past 20 years. Probably going to be my top choice.
