Brief Profile:
I am a non-traditional student pursuing a second career. My MCAT scores are below average, but I am hoping and praying that my life and career experiences coupled with my most current GPA from my 2nd Bachelor’s degree (received in Dec 2011) will demonstrate to the adcoms that my current academic capabilities and my strong desire to help improve people\'s lives tremendously outweigh my MCAT scores.
I did an academic 180 degree turn around from my 1st Bachelors degree obtained many years ago with a 2.4 GPA. I am hoping that adcoms will not just look at raw stats (MCAT and GPA) but will view the entire package and my ability to overcome past disadvantages.
Some of my experiences and accomplishments include:
- Foster Parent for special needs children for over 6 years (cared for over 50 children during this time). Adopted 2 special needs children from foster care. - Volunteered in the nursery at my church during Sunday services and was a marriage ministry leader. - Community service at local non-profit organization (over 2000 hrs volunteered over 4+ years). - Volunteered at hospital in ER and laboratory for 1 year. - Volunteered in my college professor’s laboratory for research experience for over 6 months. - Shadowed ER physician and pediatrician. - Countless hours of leadership experience via management positions throughout my professional career. - West Point Graduate - Prior service with awards as an officer in the U.S. Army. - Phi Theta Kappa (community college) - Phi Kappa Phi (4 year college) - Active participant in local student organizations.

Summary of Application Experience
I\'m a non-traditional student with 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and many years of experience as a manufacturing supervisor. I am changing careers in order to pursue my passion to help improve the health and well being of medically underserved people.
The application process has been very tiresome and at times depressing, but I have learned from experience that anything is possible with God! Never let anyone or anything (especially poor performance in the past) keep you from striving towards your dreams! Trust God and listen to His voice, and He will see to it that your dreams are fulfilled!
The bottom line for me is that God has called me to change careers to become a doctor and help provide medical care to people in underserved communities in the U.S. and abroad; therefore, He is paving the way for my acceptance and matriculation into the right medical school in order to fulfill my dream! The medical schools that required high MCATs, regardless of experience, were not the right medical schools for me.
He is Almighty and will make it such that anything that may normally be perceived as a weakness in my overall profile (i.e., age, low GPA in the past, low MCATs, career change, etc.) does not negatively affect my chances for going to the right medical school to which He guides me.
God will do the same for anyone if they just have faith in Him and trust Him!
\"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths.\" PROV 3:5-6
Praise Him! Hallelujah and amen! I\'m excited!
To those viewing this, please understand that everyone\'s path to medical school is very different. My hope is to encourage those with lower than average MCATs who have also worked hard at improving their application with great ECs and an upward trend in GPA. God will bless your efforts! :)
