  • Brief Profile: I\'m DONE!!!! Wow what a relief to say that. I decided to rank the pre-match that gave me a scholarship #1 in the Texas Match and effectively withdrew myself from consideration at all other schools. I still can\'t believe I got a scholarship. For me this was definitely the right choice. I\'m going to be a doctor :)

    Activity Overview:
    -NO SHADOWING (yeah dead serious)
    -Sorority with leadership
-Founded organization to promote graduate education
    -music involvement
-summer medical related research at 2 different institutions
-1+ year chem research at undergrad institution
-1+ year research at medical school
-led after school science program for underprivileged kids

    LORS:
I got three individual letters. One from the Biochem prof, PI, and engineering prof. All knew me for well over a year and profs taught me in multiple classes. I was told by many interviewers that I had outstanding LORs.

I\'m officially done. Today was the last day to enter prefs and I ranked a pre-match #1. I have added my activities above and the MCAT score posted is accurate. Yes, I actually got an M - grrr that still makes me mad. Thankfully adcoms didn\'t seem to care. I was never asked once. The GPA is a close approximation to my own. If you are actually reading this, I wish you the best of luck and I advise you to spend less time comparing yourself to others, focus on improving your app, and maybe enjoying life a little more! ;)

I am really grateful to have so many early interview opportunities. All of them have been completely different in style and format. The key is to know why you want to go THERE and make sure they listen to your response. Even if it is an open interview the interviewer may never touch your application - look for the signs of this (ie they DONT ask deep questions). Know your basic bio like the back of your hand and realize you might never talk about yourself. I spent one interview discussing death/mortality followed by solutions to America\'s health crisis. I am counting down the days to oct/nov 15th. I have my fingers crossed that good things will come.

Completed all of my secondaries!!! I\'m actually not sure what I am going to do with myself besides obsessive compulsively refresh my email. Super excited for my first interview invite. Hopefully there are more on the way :)

    --July 6, 2011--
An LOR is missing from the TMDSAS and AMCAS. It has been 17 days since the writer issued them. WTH!!! My LORs only took 11 days to appear in the system in early June. Considering the update on \"received\" items from amcas something fishy has happened. Requested the writer reissue the letters, but to interfolio instead of the systems. If you didn\'t notice, I\'m pretty upset. Received several secondaries today, but I\'m too frustrated to work on them. I have missed any shot at an early TX interview.
~UPDATE: After multiple reminders and indicating something completely outside of my control went wrong.. convinced the old school prof uploaded the letter directly to interfolio. YAY I\\\'m complete in TEXAS!!! Moral of the story - persistence pays off. Show the writer you care and how important this is to you.

Wow.... my TMDSAS was just transmitted to schools. It only took 9 days! I was a little unprepared for this. At least I started secondaries, but I will be consumed by them for the rest of the week.

I\\\'m just starting the cycle as a first time applicant. :)
MCAT score came back today. Not as awesome as my AAMC average, but I feel like I dodged a bullet. Walking out, I felt like I had been mowed down by a monster truck. With my GPA there is no need to retake and my applications will be in early this cycle. **Take my advice: deal with the MCAT well before you apply!!! I have solid chunks of white hair caused by the overwhelming stress. A late retake will hurt your app unless you get an amazing score***
