Brief Profile:
My VR mark is totally not reflective of what my average VR mark was during my practice exams. I had a family emergency the night before so I barely got any sleep. PS and BS were never really big issues for me, but VR required all of my concentration and I couldn\'t give it my all that day. Was hoping to break 40, but I\'ll take a 36.
Canadian citizen. British Columbia and Quebec residency status.
300 hours of hospital medical imaging volunteering. Fluent in English, French, and Bengali. 30 hours of intro molecular biology tutoring. MCAT BS and PS tutor for my university. Flu clinic volunteer. A couple of scholarships in undergrad. Dean\'s list. Volunteering for 2 weeks overseas in Bangladesh. Shoe store stockroom coordinator for 2 months (my only paying job).

If reincarnation exists, I never want to repeat this process ever again.
My initial thoughts of my chances for med school was that I thought it would be easy to get into one because of my grades. Then I realised how so many applicants in Canada have similar grades and even better ECs. After getting interview offers to two schools initially, I was smacked back down to Earth with six rejections in succession.
My confidence was rocked, but I figured that if I didn\'t get in next year I\'ll just broaden for next year by applying to Canada, the States, and Australia. I think that really helped me relax for my UBC interview.
May 12th, 2011 at 11:40am. That\'s when my mom woke me up to read a letter. That\'s when I had a faint smirk across my face before being able to process what I just read in my brain. When my brain finally caught up, it turned out to be the happiest moment of my life.
Weird how the application I spent the least amount of time on has changed my future completely.

Summary of Experience:
Out-of-province pool.
Long shot since they only accept half a dozen OOP applicants per year and they want some ridiculous GPA like 92% and above. Well, it\'s Saskatchewan. Even if it were to be the only school that accepted me, I would be hard-pressed to go live there for 4 years. I never got notified as to whether I got rejected or offered an interview.
This was a long shot since they only accept a couple of OOP applicants per year that are not from the maritime provinces. I never got notified of whether or not I got rejected or got an interview, but it doesn\'t matter anymore.
Along with UBC, this was my best shot at med school in Canada. Probably even better than UBC because I had many months to do my application. Unfortunately, I was waitlisted for an interview and subsequently rejected before being able to interview. I was really crushed when I found out I was waitlisted since I really wanted to return to my roots in Montreal, but it wasn\'t meant to be.
I blame my shoddy abstract for my personal narrative for the rejection.
I didn\'t expect to get accepted by my home province\'s school because I literally had to rush through the application after coming home from my vacation. Very shocked and very elated to be able to stay in Vancouver for med school and possibly the rest of my life.
I didn\'t feel too comfortable after my interview, but I guess they really liked it. I literally only put three things on my application for ECs because of how little time I had to complete the application.
